Lionel of Angrasté: Assassin of Love (Synopsis)
The time is fulfilled. The end is now to
be determined. And thus, the Prophecy awakens. An assassin who never wanted to
kill, Lionel of Angrasté, finds himself swearing vengeance on his king and
country for their atrocities against him. When Velden, king of Jager threatens
war on Angrasté and abducts one of their royal family for ransom, Lionel
volunteers to find the missing noble in hopes of betraying his people to Jager.
However, the Jagernite king is more than
he appears to be, and he and the Prophecy battle for Lionel’s heart, catching
him in a fight between his destiny, will, and his power to choose. Will Lionel
let himself fall to the enemy’s plan, or will he choose to do the one thing
that he fears more than death—the only thing able to destroy Velden of Jager?

“The moon is
beautiful tonight, eh?” Boruk murmured, drawing his mantle closer around his
shoulders.
Lionel shrugged.
“It’s cold, Elder. Gray and dead.”
Boruk raised his
eyebrows. “I see it as silver and like a pearl in the sky…and”—he couldn’t help
adding—“the subject of a Prophecy.” He glanced at Lionel’s sweat-shining skin,
despite the chill. “You’ve been running again?”
“Aye.” Lionel
looked up at the bare tree branches that crisscrossed the moon and stars in the
deep blue sky. “And you were with me, were you not? Somewhere behind the trees?
Silently running just as hard, just as fast? And yet here you stand, not
panting, not sweating, and in fact, cold enough to wear your cloak.”
Elder Boruk could
not contain a smirk. “Did you see me?”
Lionel rested his
hand on a tree and looked down. “No, Elder. I did not even feel you.”
